Hello and welcome to Seranya Wearable Art. I’m Susan Radke, the artist and owner of Seranya. I’m a self-taught fiber artist, professional landscape designer, wife, mother-of-twins (don’t let that impress you too much, they’re 23 now) and above all follower of Jesus Christ.
I’m a certifiable plant geek and I love fabric to the point of hoarding – almost. I’ve been creative all my life. My earliest artful memory is of little clay pots baking in the sun, made from a clay deposit my mother found in our back yard in central Wisconsin where I grew up. A surprising find considering the rest of the soil was pretty much pure sand. I have made huge macrame’ wall-hangings (during my teens) which are in homes all over the place including Texas and Spain, and most recently my hand painted and dyed scarves have become world travelers. I even have a photo of one given as a gift to a new mother-in-law in China.
I’ve won a few awards with my landscapes, and took 2nd place in a chili cook-off. Yeah, I like to cook too. Knitting, crochet, and even a little photography have made it to my list of creatives that I like to do, and learning how to spin yarns is right on top of my list of new things to learn. I believe everyone needs a never-ending list of things to learn – don’t you? I’d love to hear what’s on your list – leave a comment won’t you?
